L'oréal Paris Infaillible 24H Fresh Wear Powder Foundation
10-10-2022
Hi Cherries and welcome to my review of the L'Oréal Paris Infailible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation In A Powder! I bought the powder foundation in the color 020 Ivory.
According to L'Oreal Paris, the powder foundation is lightweight and it should cover like a liquid foundation without giving off a cakey look. It should give a mattifying effect. In addition, it should have a longwear formula that is oil-free, waterproof, heat-resistant, sweat-resistant and non-comedogenic. So with that, the foundation should be suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone skin!
The foundation is available in 20 different colors:
Pearl - Porcelain - Ivory - Vanilla - Ivory Buff - True Beige - Golden Beige - Linen - Beige Sand - Sand - Radiant Honey - Radiant Sand - Golden Sun - Amber - Hazelnut - Copper - Mocha - Deep Amber - Ebony en Sienna
Pearl to Ivory Buff are the shades specifically made for light skin. True beige to Sand for the house colors between light and dark tints. The colors that come after Sand are obvious for the darker skin tones. So pay close attention when choosing the color.
Casing, texture and fragrance
The casing of the foundation is very compact. The size is comparable to the size of a cushion foundation. So it's easy for travel or handy to have in the bag when you need facial makeup. The whole case is made of plastic, but not with high quality. It is thin plastic that breaks easily.
When we open the compact, we look straight at the powder foundation. The powder is odorless. When we lift the middle part, we see that L'Oréal Paris gives a mirror and makeup sponge. I don't think this is a superfluous luxury for this product and it makes the product completely ready for use!
When I wanted to test the texture of this product, the powder broke a little at the bottom. I do swear I haven't been rough with my strength. I did seriously lightly swipe my finger over the product. Then I tried to correct a few things by pushing the powder back. So that's why you can see a fingerprint.
The powder has a cream texture and a lot of pigment which is also necessary to make the product a powder foundation, but it is delicate.
So what I'm going to do is use the makeup sponge that L'Oréal Paris gave us to apply the product. Of course I can't completely repair the break which I've caused, because once powder breaks it's very difficult to repair without a tool, but I'll do my best.
My saga of destroying makeup products has continued with this. So no one but me, keep my tradition of this kind of thing alive again, hahahaha! XD
In the first set of photos below, I'm not wearing the product on my face. All I have done on my face is my daily skincare routine. The only thing about makeup on my face is eyebrow pencil. Normally I do eyebrow pencil last. After my makeup routine, but I had to go to the dentist early in the morning and I always hate it when I have to go to the dentist with facial makeup. So I always try to schedule it as early as possible.
In the photos below I'm wearing the product on my face. You immediately see a big difference between my face with the product and without. The powder foundation gives a medium, natural coverage, but it can be built up to a fairly high coverage. It covers pimples and bumps. I managed to cover a large part of my redness with one layer of powder foundation, but unfortunately the product doesn't cover dark circles. On the one hand, very logical, because you cannot put the properties of a liquid foundation for 100% in a powder. Sad on the other hand.
I also think the powder foundation feels light on the skin. It doesn't feel like you're applying heavy powder on the face and the product doesn't feel like a layer on the face either. It gives a very matte look at first.
The only problem I see with this product is that it settles in the pores. If you have large pores, like me, this is not nice to look at. I do find that you can tackle the problem a bit by applying your favorite face powder over it.
>> 12 hours later <<
In the photos below, I wore the product on my face for a total of 12 hours. Not only did I try to keep the product on my face for as long as possible for a "perfect" review, but I really couldn't help myself as I was going to have a very long day.
I must say that 12 hours is the maximum you can do with the product. At the end of the day, the mattifying effect is completely gone. The product will transfer to the fingers. It's just one big "oily mess". You should be happy when you can finally remove the product from the face. Although the finish is definitely not as beautiful as in the early and mid hours, I must admit that I am very surprised at the coverage. It's only faded a bit on my forehead and nose, but otherwise the coverage is still there. I didn't expect this at all with a powder foundation!
In the pictures on the left you can see how much powder foundation I managed to remove from one half of my face. My cotton pad is almost full on one side. Never mind when I did the other half of my face. There was just a lot of powder foundation on it! Not normal! (^.^)
My personal opinion and score
The L'Oréal Paris Infailible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation In A Powder! is in my opinion a good replacement for liquid foundation with natural coverage. It's lightweight. Covers well on its own, but the coverage can be built up and I really see no reason why this powder foundation should be less effective than liquid foundation. I recommend this foundation to anyone who wants to gradually replace liquid face makeup or who don't like liquid face makeup, but still want a powder foundation with good coverage. The product is in my opinion well suited for sensitive skin as I have some areas on my face that are extra sensitive lately and this product has not aggravated it or given off any kind of irritation. The L'Oréal Paris Infailible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation In A Powder! in fact has everything and is ready to use immediately upon purchase.
The longwear formula of L'Oréal Paris Infailible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation In A Powder! is okay. The product stays put, but is not sweat resistant. I think it is logical that it isn't sweat resistant, because at the end of the day this remains a powder. It's a totally different texture. Powder simply goes off the face faster than a liquid product. You always have to keep up with powder, like the women in the 1940s, 50s and 60s always did. Take a moment in the day or quickly go into a toilet stall and work it. Then it will be nicer anyway.
Now I have brought this product on my face in this review with the attached makeup sponge, but you can also apply this product very well with a powder brush!
Is this product worth all the hype? Not quite. The product (the foundation) itself is good for a powder foundation, but the powder itself is very delicate (breaks quickly) and the case clearly needs room for improvement.
My personal score for this product is a 7/10!
