Bondi Sands (The Australian Tan) is a fairly well-known brand for self-tanners and is known for being inspired by Australia's most iconic beach. In times when the health risk of unprotected sunbathing and the use of the tanning bed became increasingly known, Bondi Sands devised a safe way to get a healthy tan. Bondi Sands products are suitable for all skin types and the complexion is "long-lasting". For example, the "Bondi Sands Self Tan Foam Dark" is a very popular product of this brand and it's certainly a product that I still want to try, but today I'm going to review a not so well-known product. Well ... this product is known, but less known than the foams. Let me put it this way. The product that I'm going to review today is called the Bondi Sands Liquid Gold.

The Bondi Sands Liquid Gold is not like normal self-tanning liquids. This is thicker and really an oil. You can think of this as a real self-tanning oil. Now the bottle I'm holding in the picture is not completely full. This is after using it 2 times. If I count the amount for my body, the bottom line is that I can use this product 7 to 8 times. By that I mean that I can completely smear the body with this. I'm not the tallest woman. So taller women than me should definitely use more of this product. I'm guessing taller women can do about 5 times with this product. It doesn't sound much either. Logical, because this product only has a volume of 150ml.

Description and promise Liquid Gold (according to the website I bought it from):
"Sun, sea and beach: an enviable Australian picture. Bondi Sands Everyday Liquid Gold Dry-Oil moisturizes the skin while developing into a golden brown complexion that dries in seconds. This product is a superior dry oil, which develop after 2 to 3 hours and whose color stays visible for up to a week, it gives you a perfectly bronzed color that seems to originate from within. With a wonderful summer coconut scent and moisturizing Argan Oil, the Bondi Sands Liquid Gold is the longest-lasting self-tanner Bondi Sands that also does not need to be rinsed off. "

Let's see if Bondi Sands keeps the promises. In the bottom pictures you can see how the color has developed. In the first photo my legs are clearly a lot less brown than in the following photos. The photos for the final result were taken 1 day after application. Later I will tell you why I did it this way.

Normally we take precautions for self-tanning. Think of clean, exfoliated skin with body lotion or cream. However, we don't want to have a body lotion or cream before using this product! For best results with a self-tanning oil, it's important not to have any moisturizing products on the body. The reason is that a self-tanning oil itself is hydrating and the working ingredients are incorporated in it. So when you try this product ... Remember ...
NO MOISTURIZING PRODUCTS ON THE BODY! This can lead to a deeply disappointing result.

Bondi Sands Liquid Gold is best applied with a tanning mitt. An official tanning mitt of the brand is recommended, but I don't have it. So I applied the product 2 times with a tanning mitt from Fake Bake. I actually did exactly as the instructions state. With long strokes I applied the product to both the legs and arms. My cleavage and abdomen are done in circular movements. I usually have the back done by a friend for the best result. There, too, circular movements were made with the tanning mitt. What is left is used on the feet, hands and knees.

It's true that you immediately see a golden brown complexion after applying the liquid. However, it's not true that the color develops fully after 2 to 3 hours. You will not see the deepest color until the next morning, but it's true that this product will last for at least a week. Since this is a liquid oil and not a foam, it doesn't last as long. If you want a longer result, I personally don't recommend this product.

A very nice fact about this product is that it absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn't release any color on bedding etc. You can put on clothes again in no time. You don't have to rinse this product. Fine scent and moisturizing.

I'll be very honest with you all right away. I didn't think this product would do well. Compared to all Bondi Sands brand products, this product is the least known. Because of the description I had quite high expectations regarding the result. The first time I used this product I had waited 2 to 3 hours as indicated, but the result remained a golden complexion (not yet medium). This blog post would actually be a first impression, but I'm glad I didn't do it. The next morning, Bondi Sands Liquid Gold immediately said to me:

My body was a beautiful, even, bronzed color. Not a dark complexion, but a medium complexion. If you want a dark complexion, it's best not to use this product. This product will give no more than a medium complexion. I also have to admit very honestly that this is probably the easiest self-tanner I have tried so far due to the many benefits of this product. Only a pity about the content and that you have to use quite a bit. In addition, this product is very error prone in my opinion. There is no guide color and it sometimes happens that this product doesn't grab certain spots well. Fortunately, it's easy to fix by using it the next morning, for example, but I don't think it's ideal for most of us. Especially when you are afraid of stripes and spots. I must say that it has worked well for me so far, but I have also had to recover here and there.

My personal score for this product is an 8/10!
