Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Lustre
19-12-2021

Hello Cherries and welcome to my review of the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in the color "Pillow Talk" This is my second packaging and I usually get this Lip Lustre at the Bijenkorf (for international Cherries : The Bijenkorf is a Dutch high-end department store in the Netherlands which only sells high-end brands from the world) (^.^)

Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Lustre is a lip gloss, where the intention is that you can wear it not only over a lipstick or lip pencil, but also as a product on its own. I personally prefer to wear this alone, because I think it looks natural on my lips and I don't wear regular lipsticks very often. It also comes in 11 different colors (incl. Pillow Talk). So there is some choice in this Lip Lustre.

The packaging of this Lip Lustre is a square tube with a regular slanted sponge applicator. It looks simple, but professional. Actually a very normal packaging for a lip gloss, but in Charlotte Tilbury style.

The color of Pillow Talk can best be described as a nude pink that runs warm with a medium coverage. It falls very naturally, making it easy to wear. I'm a huge fan of natural lip colors and eyeshadows. In my opinion you can never have enough, but if you aren't a big fan of natural lip colors, then this is definitely a color you want to skip. Fortunately, there are 10 other colors to choose from. So choose the color which makes you feel good (^.^)

The texture of this lip gloss reminds me a lot of the texture of my NYX butter glosses (review also available on my blog!), but slightly different. It has a slightly buttery texture which does stick and you can feel it. So the texture is a "hit or miss" situation in my opinion. It won't be a favorite for everyone. For example, I like to feel a lip gloss on my lips, but I can well imagine that there are plenty of people who don't like it at all.

Below you can see how the color "Pillow Talk" comes out on my lips. The lip gloss has only just been applied on the left. On the right is the result after 8 hours.

Pros:

  • Medium coverage
  • Natural result
  • Packaging is convenient to carry in the bag
  • Good pigmentation (for the color "Pillow Talk")
  • Lip Lustre feels moisturizing
  • Can last for a long time on the lips but remember this is a lip gloss. So you'll have to keep up with it anyway!

    * Buttery texture for those who love this.
    * Not too much shine for the people who like this.

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • Small content
  • Very sticky (best to wear when the weather is not windy or when you put your hair up)
  • Small applicator, so you have to pump a few times to get the desired amount

Buttery texture for those who don't like this.
Has less shine in the result. For the people who would like to have more shine in a lip gloss, this is not ideal.

My personal opinion and score

I recommend the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Pillow Talk to anyone looking for a lip gloss with a natural result that also looks natural on the lips. Not that much shine, but more emphasis on hydration. The product is pricey compared to the content that you receive. So if you're on a budget or don't want to spend too much money on a lip gloss, you can definitely find affordable options similar to this one. For example, my all-time favorite is the NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss.

In general, I certainly don't think this is a wrong lip gloss to have in my (makeup) bag, but given the price I won't want to buy it too often. Sure, because I already own a cheaper option that works a little better and lasts longer (in my opinion!). So I actually try to save this one as much as possible for important occasions or when I wear an outfit that I really want to wear it with (^.^)

My personal score for this product is an 8,5/10!
