Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid
08-06-2020

Hello Cherries! Big virtual hugs to all of you! Hopefully you all stayed healthy. Do your best and take good care of yourself! Not only physical, but mental health is also very important (^ 3 ^)

Today I'm going to take you through the "60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid" of the Fake Bake brand. I bought this product a while ago, but it was waiting on my shelf to be used. Last Saturday I finally started using this product. I first wanted to make sure that my previous self-tanner was completely used up, before continuing with the next ... In addition, I had to lie against my natural skin color again.

To be honest I first wanted to go for the original liquid, but unfortunately it was sold out at the time of purchase. So I went for this one (^_^)

Fake Bake is a very popular brand originating from America. Self-tanners of this brand are often used by artists for a beautiful red carpet look. A good example is the "5 minute mousse". This is apparently often used with Miley Cyrus. Incidentally, this is (how we call it in Dutch when a product is known to be great) a cannon product and really for the pros. I make you the promise to ever review this one too, but first I have to use up the products on my shelf, because after this product I have a very nice self-tanner to show you!

Now back to the product I bought. The "60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid" comes packed in a long white box with both pink and black letters. Despite the small box, Fake Bake comes with a small kit. Fake Bake provides all the essentials for a beautiful application in this box. Often you have to buy the supplies separately and a good tanning mitt costs already around €6,-. Now Fake Bake saves you all that effort and just gives it to you (^_^)

So in this box you get as follows:

- The 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid
- An original tanning mitt from Fake Bake
- Atomizer
- Reusable gloves (If you are allergic to latex, I recommend using latex-free gloves)

Preparation

Before using a self-tanner it's wise to prepare your skin well. Self-tanners are known for causing streaks and stains on the skin. Fake Bake promises that this product will not leave streaks or stains. To be sure, I recommend everyone to take the usual precautions to avoid the known problems.

Hair removal, waxing or shaving is best done the day before. Even if you use a scrub with oil. Scrub with oil is strongly discommend for using a self-tanner. However, my skin cannot tolerate scrub without oil. So I exfoliate my skin very well the day before. The day I use a self-tanner I apply my body with a moisturizing and nourishing body cream. A body lotion is just as good. So this is a personal choice.

My top favorites are Rituals' skin products. Currently I use the skin products of the Ritual of Sakura, but I'm also a huge fan of Ayurveda and Hammam. I often alternate. Earlier with the products of the Ayurveda line, because I started using that line first and I love how sweet the scent is on my body.

(Incidentally, the scrub below is a miniature version. I received this with a gift set and am currently using it up. The original jar has a content of 250g. The miniature has a content of 125g)

The last thing to do is to turn the atomizer on the bottle. Then you are all set to apply the "60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid"!

How do I use the 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid? (+ promises)
You apply this product on the legs first. You basically work from bottom to top. Below this piece you will find an instructional video of Fake Bake in which a woman applies the product to her body. This is incidentally a movie from the year 2013. At that time this product came in a black box. They have changed this to show the differences in the products. This product was seemingly often compared to the original liquid.

The great thing about this liquid compared to the original is that you can determine the color yourself! For a golden complexion, let the product sit for 1 hour. For a more bronzed complexion, let the product sit for 2 hours. For the darkest complexion that this product can give, let the product sit for 3 hours. I chose to let the product sit for 3 hours because I was pale again, but at 1 hour you already have a healthy complexion to start. Very ideal for a nice party, for example.

Fake Bake also promises the following:

- Dries quickly and does not stick

- Does not clog pores

- Washable after 60 minutes - Suitable for all skin types

Working

The Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid aims to give a healthy complexion after 1 hour. You can then build up the complexion for another 2 hours. It's strongly advised not to leave the product for more than 3 hours. In the pictures below you can see the differences in the hours. On the first photo I have the product on my body for 1 hour, on the second photo 2 hours and on the last photo I have had the product on my body for a total of 3 hours. Then I jumped in the shower and rinsed the guide color.

After showering you don't yet see the optimal result that you see with most self-tanners. The truth is that after rinsing, the complexion still needs to develop. In the end, you get exactly the complexion you have built up. So for me it was the darkest complexion after 3 hours.

Personal opinion and score

To be honest, this product is much better than I expected or thought (Duh, Sabrina! This is Fake Bake! XD). The Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid actually keeps all its promises. The application process went smoothly and flawlessly. Indeed, it dries quickly, so you can already put on some clothes (keep in mind that you have to rinse this product after the desired complexion!) And it doesn't stick at all. It also has a guide color so you can see where you left off. Super handy! The darkest complexion this product can give looks very natural and I'm very happy with the result. It's said (never admitted by Fake Bake!) That this is a short-term liquid. The complexion would last for max. 5 days, but I'm now on my 3rd day and it looks like I rinsed it on Saturday. So I personally believe that this product can last up to a week or more. Of course, all self-tanners work differently for everyone. One can be very satisfied and the other not.

I recommend this product to anyone who cannot or does not want to wait long for a complexion. In addition, this product is more suitable for the real pale people among us XD If you already have a light complexion by nature, then I personally won't recommend this product. Why? This product will not make you much darker. Then you should go for the original liquid or the complete darker line from Fake Bake.

Only drawback of this product is the price. This product cost me €35,- Pricey, but I also have to remember that Fake Bake gave me a kit. Normally you have to order the tanning mitt and gloves separately. So in the end it makes sense that this product has this price.

My personal score fot this product is a 9.5/10!
