Mentholatum Acnes Creamy Wash

It took a long time, but I finally give away my review of the Mentholatum Acnes Creamy Wash. You see the product clearly in the photo. It is a somewhat older photo, because I first did a video review about it in May. So here you can also see my old hair color which I dyed before I went to a darker hair color... Ehm ... Well. I thought it would be better to write a real blog review at the end of my 'summer' acne period, because I wanted to see what the product really did after a very long time.
 
This acne wash is different from other acne washes, because this is one of the few acne washes from Asia that does not dry out the skin. It is also one of the few acne washes with a real cream texture. This texture can be seen on the photos below. It looks a bit strange, but that is because you have to mix it with water to a foam. I will come back to that later on :)
The product is white in color and it also becomes a white foam on the face. Personally, I think this wash smells like a mix between dreft and mountain dew.... It has a delicious citrus, but also dishwashing fragrance... It is hard to deny, hahahaha! XD
 
How should I use this product?
As I described earlier, it is intended that you mix this with water. Take 1 or 2 cm cream wash (I always use 2 cm) and spread this out in your hand (2nd photo), so that you can mix it more easily. Then apply some water to the cream wash and mix well until you get foam. Then apply the foam to the face and massage it for 3 minutes. Make sure you press a little, so that it goes well into the pores. Are you ready? Then rinse the face with lukewarm water.
TIP! For a better effect it is useful if you have an automatic cleansing brush.
 
The promises and the result
The result of this product is not immediately visible. You have to use this product for a week and a half or two weeks if you really want to notice the result. In my old video review I took pictures of myself on day 1 and after 2 weeks. You can see from the photos that this product has done a lot for my face. I could never have expected it all from this product. It really fights to the smallest bumps and blackheads. In addition, it also helps to minimize large pores and fights against sebum. The only drawback of this product is that it is not strong enough for larger and thicker zits. You should use another remedy for this, as I did with the pink powder spot treatment (Etude House) or normal treatments (Innisfree).
 
Other nice facts about this product? It contains both vitamin C and E. Vitamin C is to reduce the redness and vitamin E prevents skin aging :)
 
Mentholatum makes us 3 different promises. I indicate below which promises there are and if they are true :)
  • Control over pores - TRUE! As I described earlier, this product helps to reduce large pores and take control over sebum. 
  • Restores acne for 99.9% with strong ingredients - TRUE! If you take a look at my old video below, you can see that it effectively combats my acne. It does take the smallest bumps and blackheads, but unfortunately does little to the larger zits. For the photos you can best skip to 2:56. It does not make much sense to watch the rest of the video, because I tell you the same as I do here.     
  • Purifies the skin - TRUE! It does indeed purify a large part of the skin. Chances of a zit stays here and there, but a large part will disappear after a week and a half or even two weeks!

 

Personal opinion and score
I am really convinced that this product is very underestimated, because I also first thought that it would do nothing and there is not much talk about this product, but the opposite is true. It does everything it promises and it has surprised me enormously! I want to try more of this line myself, because what I have tried so far from this line is so good! So I'm going to look for another wash next year, but if it's not effective then I'll definitely go back to this wash. Personally, I do not really like the texture, because I have to keep on with water, but I really appreciate it that it does not dry out my face! In my eyes, this wash earns a big 8.5/10!
