Rimmel London Lasting Matte Foundation
14-05-2021

Hi Cherries and welcome to my review on the Rimmel London Lasting Matte Foundation! (^3^) This product is the successor of the "Stay Matte" foundation. So it should work better than the predecessor. I've never actually tried the predecessor. So I can't compare it either. What I can do is give my opinion about this product as several of you have asked me to review it.

The product can be purchased in 13 different shades. These are as follows:

010 Warm Porcelain (my choice)

085 Fair Beige

100 Ivory

103 True Ivory

200 Soft Beige

201 Classic Beige

203 True Beige

300 Sand

304 Almond

305 Buff

400 Natural Beige

404 Sun Beige

408 Cocoa

I chose the lightest shade 010 Warm Porcelain because I'm all the way back to being "pale as f ****" (wore self-tanner at the end of last month and the beginning of this month, but had to wait for everything to come off) XD

Casing, texture and smell

The product comes in a black squeeze tube with white lettering on both the front and back. On the front we mainly only find the name of the product and on the back the product is briefly described. We also find the ingredients list on the back of the tube. What's immediately noticeable about the tube is that there is a transparent stripe in the middle. This allows you to see what the color of the foundation is. I think the casing of this product looks professional and what I immediately like is how compact the tube actually is. I already have small hands, but I am also not a tall woman, hahaha! So especially if you have bigger hands than me, imagine how the product will fall into your hands! You can certainly take it with you everywhere you go! (^.^)

In the second photo, I squeezed out the amount I need for my face. It immediately comes out as a kind of small whipped cream tuft. This is a mousse foundation. I have felt the mousse a little with my fingers and the mousse is thick on its own, but when you spread it, it is very light and soft. Still difficult to spread with just your fingers. So I recommend using a foundation, buffing brush or beauty blender.

The fragrance of the foundation is sweet. I can't put it around my finger for 100%, but it's a pretty familiar fragrance. I thought I smelled something like honey in it, but wasn't sure until I read in the ingredients list that it contains beeswax, hahaha!

Now I'm going to show you what the product looks like on my face after applying it. Since I have dry / combination skin with visible pores, I applied my current facial skincare routine before using foundation (found in my Do Not Enter). Over that I applied a primer in connection with my pores. It's spring now and during this and summer season, my skin on the face is more prone to blemishes. So to keep this in tone a bit more I use a special primer made for the pores. The primer I used is the Kiko Milano Skin Trainer CC Blur. Haven't used it for very long, but if you also want a review about it, please let me know! (^.^)

In the first series of photos, I haven't yet applied the product on my face. In the second series of photos, yes. In the third series you can see what the product looks like after I have done my entire makeup routine. All photos can be enlarged!

Promises

Rimmel London describes the product as follows: "A non-stop matte finish thanks to Rimmel's Lasting Matte Foundation! This light foundation, very comfortable to the touch, regulates the glow of the skin and gives a truly mattifying complexion without making your face feel tight or cakey. The Rimmel London Lasting Matte Foundation covers completely, instantly conceals imperfections and has a mousse formula that transforms into a powder finish, while ensuring hydrated and balanced skin for up to 12 hours, leaving you looking fresh, smooth and flawless outside! "

*8 hours later*

I agree with Rimmel London that the foundation is a very comfortable feeling product. It doesn't feel like a layer on the face at all. The mousse is very light and easy to spread with the help of a brush or beauty blender. I have used the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush myself, because it works well with cream foundations and mousse foundations.

A matte complexion is certainly achievable with this product. It is matt immediately after application! Only I don't really agree 100% that it regulates the shine of the skin. After a few hours, the shine slowly returns to the face. After 8 hours you will definitely need to use a fixing powder or spray to make it look matt again. If you want to wear the foundation longer.

The face doesn't feel tight, but cakey? I tend to disagree. The face can look cakey using this foundation. After a few hours you will notice that in certain areas, the foundation is coming together. I especially noticed this on my nose. So I got it off there first. That's why I have a "red" nose on the * 8 hours later * photos. I also noticed it around my mouth area. It does work well on the areas where I normally have excess sebum secretion, like my forehead for example.

Promises that are definitely kept are full coverage and concealment of imperfections. With one thin layer of foundation I was able to get most of the redness out of my face, without using concealer! You also don't see any hyperpigmentation of impurities. This finish is certainly guaranteed!

I half agree / disagree with Rimmel London's latest promises. Hydrated? Absolutely not! It is a very matte foundation. Without a good base under this foundation, it will dry out your face. Balanced skin? Uhm... I have dry / combination skin and I don't really notice that much of the balance. I think this is more noticeable by those with combination / oily or even oily skin. Fresh, smooth and flawless? Not flawless, as the foundation can cling to dry patches. Smooth? Yes, because it covers redness and impurities, making the face look smoother. Fresh? Yes. I don't think it doesn't look fresh after 8pm.

Personal opinion and score

I recommend the Rimmel London Lasting Matte Foundation best for people who have an oily skin type or a combination / oily skin, because it gives a very matte finish. This kind of finish is definitely necessary for those with oily skin types. I have a dry / combination skin and I notice that this foundation can manage on my skin type, but I will certainly not recommend it for sensitive, dry or normal skin.

I don't know if you could see from the pictures that the foundation adheres to dry areas, but this product certainly does. Since I have chosen a light color in terms of foundation, it may not stand out that much, but this will certainly stand out with the dark foundation colors. I also recommend it with this product to have a good base under the foundation. If, like me, you suffer from visible or larger pores, use a good primer under this product. Any foundation goes into pores and this one is no exception. With a good primer for the pores you can largely stop it.

I personally will not buy this product a second time as it is a bit too matt for me, but I don't think this product is bad. Indeed it has its flaws and Rimmel London's promises don't quite match the finish, but I'm not going to give a bad mark just of the fact that this product is not really for my skin. My score is based on what it does and the promises. My score for this product is 7.5/10!
