The cream I am going to review for you today is, to this day, my favorite cream from the Japanese drugstore. This cream has been on the market for over 15 years, but I have been using it myself for 8 years. It is the Rohto Mentholatum Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Cream.

The cream has been specially developed for dry to combination skin that can feel somewhat drier than oily. This cream is known for a non-greasy formula that still maintains the skin's moisture balance and improves skin elasticity with every use. Additionally, the cream provides a healthy glow, which is pleasant for a makeup-free day or when you simply don't feel like wearing foundation. For instance, in the photo next to this text, I haven't applied any foundation, BB, or CC cream. Only my eyes, eyebrows, and lips have been done. The glow on my face comes from the cream.

This cream also offers a great advantage for nighttime use. In addition to being usable as both a day and night cream, it is ideal for use before applying a face mask to hydrate the skin even better!

 

 

Casing, texture and smell

The product's casing is very simple and compact. It is a white jar with the brand and name displayed in blue letters. The product originates from Japan, so we primarily find Japanese Kanji on the casing. One jar contains 50 grams of cream.

The texture of this cream is very different from the texture you normally encounter in moisturizing creams. Most moisturizing creams, particularly those from Europe, are quite thick in texture and difficult to spread. They leave behind a sticky layer that can feel unpleasant. Additionally, the skin often takes longer to absorb the product. With the texture of this cream, you will experience the exact opposite. As mentioned earlier, the cream is known for having a non-greasy formula. Therefore, the texture is designed accordingly. Instead of a very thick cream, we encounter a fresh gel texture. The cream is white when you take it out of the jar, but it spreads transparently, easily, and quickly over the face. The skin can absorb the product quickly, allowing you to immediately move on to another product or makeup. In terms of scent, the cream is quite neutral. It smells like any cream without any particular fragrance.

Working

The Rotho Mentholatum Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid cream has an intensely moisturizing effect on the skin. The face feels elastic, supple, and hydrated thanks to hydrating ingredients, such as super hyaluronic acid. Super hyaluronic acid is high-dose hyaluronic acid that you normally find in serums or capsules as an extra dietary supplement. In this case, it is incorporated into the cream, giving it an even better hydrating effect than regular hyaluronic acid.


Personal opinion and score

My personal score for this product is a 9.5/10! I have tried various Japanese creams and they were also incredibly good, but at the same time pricey! Especially if you have to order online. To this day, this remains my number 1 favorite from a Japanese drugstore. It is a very good product and affordable for everyone! I really recommend everyone with dry skin to try this product. Order it online or bring a supply back from Japan when you visit. You only need a little to apply to your face. So the jar will last you a while. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! (^_^)
