Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette
21-12-2020
My camera decided to do everything the other way around. So read the palette back to front.
Heey Cherries! It was time for me to buy a new eyeshadow palette and I really had a lot of doubts between some Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes. In the end I decided to go for the Naked3 palette. I notice that I increasingly lean towards natural looks and pink tones. So here we are! (^ 3 ^)
If you want me to review another eyeshadow palette from the same brand, please let me know, because I want to try them all.
Casing
The Naked3 Palette from Urban Decay comes in its official Naked3 box that actually contains everything you need to know about the palette. The colors, content, ingredients, etc. It's an informative box. When we take the palette out of the box, you see a rose gold casing. It's a combination of hard plastic and metal. Very nice packaging. Doesn't open easily. You have to use a little force with it. So ideal for when you take it somewhere!
The Naked3 Palette from Urban Decay focuses on natural looks that you can change into a nice neutral evening look or smokey eye. Almost all of the eyeshadows in this palette have a pink undertone. Since this palette focuses more on natural looks, this will not be everyone's favorite, but in my opinion you cannot have enough neutral eyeshadow. They will certainly come in handy someday! In my case, it's almost every day XD
When we open the palette, we see a wide mirror and twelve different eyeshadows. From light to dark. In the beginning you mainly see the pink tones. From the middle to the end we see brown tones to even brown/silver and "black". The reason I put black in this way is that it's not really black eyeshadow. It's actually very dark brown with pink glitter that is on the edge of black. That's the best way to describe the color Darkheart. We also receive an official Naked3 Palette double-sided brush from Urban Decay. You can immediately see and feel that it's made of high quality. It's certainly not a brush that they just add like with the cheap palettes of certain brands that imitate the Urban Decay style. No, this is a brush that can actually be used for a long time. On one side you will find a brush to apply the eyeshadow and on the other side we find a blending brush. You can also use the blending brush to apply eyeshadow.
Colors incl. description
(I tried to swatch the colors on my arm, but my camera didn't get the light right, so I couldn't get it done. Hence the original Urban Decay swatches on the right. I can assure you that the colors are actually the same on fair skin!)
STRANGE> The color Strange is a combination of off-white and beige. This is a base color and a good background for the subsequent eyeshadows. Also very nice for under the eyebrows.
DUST> The color Dust is one of the glitter colors in this palette. In my opinion the color with the most glitter. Be careful applying this color as it will unfortunately give you a fallout. It is best to apply this color with a finger or to stroke it on the eyelid. The pink also has a hint of white in it.
BURNOUT> The color Burnout is a frosty eyeshadow color with a hint of light pink. Very natural and elegant. Ideal for freshening up your look!
LIMIT> The color Limit is a matte eyeshadow with a nude beige color. Very natural and a base for every smokey eye look!
BUZZ> The color Buzz is a metallic eyeshadow with a clear hint of navy pink.
TRICK> The color Trick also belongs to one of the glitter colors in this palette. I understand why Urban Decay calls this color Trick, because the color is difficult to describe. It's coppery, brown, but with a little pink undertone too. Very difficult to explain it like this, but it's a very beautiful color and definitely worth using. Very nice with eyeliner and an evening look.
NOONER> The color Nooner is a matte eyeshadow with a medium brown color. Very nice for the crease and especially for women who are more tinted!
LIAR> The color Liar is a satin taupe eyeshadow color with a hint of brown and a pink overtone.
FACTORY> Factory color is a clear brown eyeshadow. A really deep brown that goes with every color in the palette.
MUGSHOT> The color Mugshot can be compared to the color Liar, because it also belongs to the satin taupe eyeshadow colors in this palette. Only this one is deeper brown.
DARKSIDE> The color Darkside is a difficult one to describe, because it looks gray at first glance. At least that's how I see it, but it is also one of the satin taupe eyeshadow colors in the Naked3 palette. It has a little hint of purple in my opinion and a hint of gray too. Still, it comes out as a brown color. A very cool color with a smokey eye or evening look!
DARKHEART> The color Darkheart is the darkest color in this palette. As described earlier, this color is not black. Although this looks like black in different lights because of the pink glitter, but it's actually a very dark brown color that lies on the edge of black. A color that you definitely need to complete your smokey eye or evening look! This is definitely a must have for those looks!
The great thing about the colors of the Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette is that you can mix these colors with all of them. Each color actually goes together with the other colors. I have never experienced this before with an eyeshadow palette. So I think this is really great and a good one from Urban Decay!
Description / Promises
Urban Decay "If there's one essential you need in your makeup bag, it's our award-winning Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette! Create natural eye looks for any skin tone with these incredibly versatile pink-toned neutrals. Each of the 12 eyeshadow shades in this neutral (but never dull) palette. Use the dusty pink mattes and shimmers to create a soft glow or take your look from day to night with a dramatic smoky pink eye with the deeper bronze and burgundy hues. Each shade is formulated with our iconic Naked formula for a velvety texture, richly pigmented color and extreme blendability. Includes a vegan and cruelty free eyeshadow brush with two ends. For best results, use the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion".
Coincidentally, I have two Urban Decay primers. The "original" and "Eden". My first idea was to bring this as a review in the Naked3 palette, but this became too long. So I made a separate review on both primers. This is also available on my blog. For this you can go back to the Urban Decay page.
I initially tried to create this look from MagnifinedBeauty so that you could still see most of the eyeshadow colors. However, I failed hard at the DARKHEART (took a little too much on my brush), so I had to start all over with my eye makeup.
That's why I left out the Darkheart and Mugshot for now and started working with the colors Strange, Dust, Buzz, Nooner and Limit. I applied my eyeliner over that. The eyeliner I'm currently using is from Maybelline New York. Called the Tattoo Liner Liquid Ink in "710 Ink Black". I'm more in favor of waterproof gel eyeliner, because I'm really not great in eyeliner. With gel eyeliner you can still play and correct. With Liquid, it just fails!
Unfortunately, the gel eyeliner jars were out of stock in the nearest drug stores. So I decided to buy liquid eyeliner in a jar. I'm not much of a fan of eyeliner pens. It's a cool concept, but I can't work very well with them and I find they dry quickly >.<
FYI: For those who have ever had or now have this palette don't have to agree with me about the following. This is how I have experienced the palette thus far and I'm always very honest about a product and my experience.
Personal opinion and score
Overall, I experienced the Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette very well. I'm happy with my first choice in the Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes. The eyeshadows are easy to spread, have a fine and soft texture. In addition, all colors go together. You can create different looks with this. From natural to a visible smokey eye or evening look. The eyeshadows are richly pigmented, as Urban Decay promises. Especially the color DARKHEART. I went wrong with that color because I thought I needed more, but you really don't need a lot of the dark colors to create a look. The pink theme is clearly visible in this Urban Decay palette. In terms of concept, casing and promises, the palette has certainly done well. Still, I have found some disadvantages.
The first disadvantage is that there are colors that look alike. As far as I'm concerned, Urban Decay could have made a few colors more unique. I personally think the colors Liar and Mugshot are very similar. The colors Burnout and Buzz are also similar. Buzz and Mugshot are both slightly darker, but if you take away the appearance you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference.
The second disadvantage is the few matte colors. Instead of two real matte colors (not counting the color "strange") it should have been at least three or four. There are many shining colors in this palette. For me, I don't really think it's a con, as it refreshes my look, but I've put this as a con, because there might be people who don't like too much shiny colors.
I recommend the Naked3 palette for people who are really looking for neutral and natural eyeshadow colors. Who really want to create very natural looks and don't want to be too flashy with eyeshadow. Also very important that a pink tone or undertone is loved, because almost all colors in this palette have such a tone. Pink is the theme of this palette. They are richly pigmented eyeshadow colors, but not as warmly pigmented as with the Naked Heat palette (I've never tried this one myself, but a friend of mine swears by that palette and I've seen her with different looks on it). So if you like a more pigmented look this is not the palette for you.
My personal score for this palette is a 9/10!
